Before the YouTube app was added to the Nintendo Switch, it was possible to watch videos on the console using the social media web applet. I built a frontend intended for this applet which allowed users to input any YouTube video ID, or use a search function that pulled from YouTube's API. Once selecting a video, the video was embedded in the middle of the page, which allowed you to click play and watch. I later added the ability to search for playlists and channels.
The modding team SwitchBru later created a Facebook page with a link to SwitchTube, so that you could search for their page after opening Facebook on the Switch, which was the easiest way to access it.
